About Me

Denver 4/20/24 – It was snowing! So magical!

Welcome to Whispering Waves, a travel and food blog (with a sprinkle of vlogging) curated by me, Ashley Stevenson. Traveling and exploring new places have always been a part of my DNA. I grew up in the carnival, spending the first 20 years of my life on the road, meeting fascinating people, and experiencing the thrill of new places every week. This nomadic lifestyle ignited my passion for adventure and cuisine. The better part of my 20s was spent traveling around the United States with various bands, embracing the energy of live music and uncovering unique local spots in each city. These experiences enriched my love for travel and the endless adventures it offers.

After the pandemic, I found a new love—cruises. The combination of exploring different destinations while enjoying the comforts of a floating hotel captured my soul, it felt like tour & the carnival all over again, but with better food and destinations! Now, I’m excited to share my adventures, culinary discoveries, and travel tips with you through Whispering Waves. Join me as I explore the world, one wave at a time, and uncover the stories, flavors, and experiences that make each journey unforgettable.

My traveling style ranges from spontaneous adventures to meticulously planned itineraries. I thrive on exploring the unbeaten path and embracing the strange & unusual. I have a deep love & curiosity for historical architecture, & recently, I’ve become fascinated with the words of Antoni Gaudi. Boston is one of my favorite U.S. cities for its stunning architecture, & it houses my favorite building in the country: The Trinity Church at Copley Square.

I enjoy immersing myself in local culture, often avoiding overly commercialized spots, though I admit I’m occasionally drawn to a tourist trap or two. Exploring local cuisine is one of my travel highlights. I have gluten & dairy intolerances & avoid pork, so finding those hidden gems that feature GF meals is fun. I have, however, discovered that I can enjoy breads & pastas in Europe without any issues.

I am the mother to a wonderful human son, Flynn, a senior weenie, Yawkey, & a couple of cats, Grimm & Fangs. I have been married to my husband Jay since 2016. I own a metaphysical shop, Three Quartz Noon, in quaint downtown New Port Richey.
